Sue Walby
Director of Music/Organist
I am a fourth generation member of a small rural Lutheran congregation, where I had the opportunity to accompany singing for the Sunday School, Bible School and Family League. That experience, and a semester of organ lessons with Miriam Duncan in college, laid the foundation for my calling as a church musician. I majored in piano performance/pedagogy at Lawrence University.
I maintain a private piano teaching studio at my home in Viroqua, Wisconsin. I also work with student musicians as accompanist/coach, give some organ lessons and perform organ recitals
I serve as a commissioner with the Viroqua Housing Authority and am on the board of the Riverland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. My hobbies include reading (having almost 2,000 books in my home). I have three children and two grandchildren and two cats.
At the top of my bucket list would be the opportunity to experience the Service of Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve at Kings College, Cambridge England and an Easter Service at Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston.
