What to Expect

You can expect to feel welcomed – First Presbyterian is located at an intersection: geographically, theologically, generationally and politically. What binds us together is our commitment to glorifying God, inviting all into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

About our Worship….

Our desire is for our worship to be a transforming experience which not only shapes and grows our faith, but ultimately brings glory to God.  Our worship is rooted in the reformed tradition and translates into our contemporary setting.  Every element of the service is selected or created to help us engage and apply the scriptures to our lives.  The music ranges from traditional hymns to praise choruses, from an organ to a piano to a praise team, from choirs to ensembles to solos, from visual images to multimedia presentations to movie clips.  Our prayers are sometimes offered by the worship leader, sometimes together, sometimes responsorial, and other times silently.  We systematically move through the scriptures to help us live into and experience the fullness of God’s revelation to us. Our preaching is grounded in scripture, while speaking into our lives today.

All are welcome to join with us on this journey of faith – whether you are just beginning to explore what faith means in your life or have an enduring relationship with Jesus.

Sunday mornings at First Pres:

  • All are welcome. Sunday morning worship at 8:30 a.m. in our Hope Chapel and 10:30 a.m. in our sanctuary. Worship is a mix of contemporary teachings within a traditional background.
  • We celebrate communion typically on the first Sunday of each month and welcome all who profess Jesus as Lord and Savior to share in the Lord’s Supper with us.
  • Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. for all ages
  • Children are welcome in worship, as we are a church family. If parents choose, nursery care, located on the lower level, is available all morning for newborn through 3 year olds. A cell phone paging system is available, allowing nursery staff to connect with parents if needed.
  • At our 10:30 worship service, young children through 5th grade, may participate in Children’s Church during a portion of the service.
We really enjoy our “Coffee Hour” following each worship service. It’s a time to catch up with old friends and make new acquaintances over a cup of coffee.
  • We come to church to glorify God…and some come casually dressed, others more formally attired.
